The Ministry of Food and Agriculture, through Agritop Limited has successfully completed the construction of 100 greenhouse kits at the Dawhenya Greenhouse Village. Each structure covers an area of 240m2, summing up to 2.4Ha for this new project.
Facilities to facilitate the running of the kits include earth works, water and electric structure, construction of pack house, irrigation centre, maintenance and storage structure. The 100 greenhouse kits was completed in a record time of 32 weeks, by Agritop’s team of greenhouse engineers.
Agritop, through its Practical Agricultural Course has trained over 500 graduates of Agriculture in greenhouse vegetable cultivation. One hundred and fifty (150) of these graduates have furthered their training through an eleven-month paid internship program in Israeli farms. In order to practice the knowledge and skills gained in greenhouse farming, and make a living through vegetable production, these greenhouse kits were built for the graduate youths. Through unison of purpose, production and marketing of vegetables from these advanced farms will take place under one umbrella.
This is another great opportunity for the youth of Ghana to deploy technology to achieve excellence in farming. Truly, Greenhouse farming is the new hope in vegetable production.
